- I believe that this rule probably dates from roughly 1949, the serial number is too early for 1950 and this revised
model with all the details on the edge was introduced in that year. For K&E serial number dating use the link here to
Ed Chamberlain's reference set of dating curves.
- This model appeared in the 1949 K+E catalogue but was replaced by the 4080-3 by the 1954 catalogue.
- This model differs only slightly from the 4081 series in that this model has the trigonometrical scales divided in
degrees and minutes whereas the 4081 series has these scales divided to represent degrees and decimals of a degree.
